Each N-1 Starfighter docking port is equipped with one of these refuelling units. During the battle for Naboo, Anakin Skywalker attempts to take refuge behind a starfighter refueller. However, it proved to be poor cover from the barrage of blaster fire coming from the attacking Federation battle droids.

The N-1 Starfighter Refueller was actually a modified single-person street cleaner. We owe thanks to the film's production designer Gavin Bocquet for informing us of this fact and for identifying the prop's purpose as a refueller. Using his information we discovered the actual model street cleaner that was used.

"Green Machine" Single-Person Street Cleaner

The unit, seen here, is called a "Green Machine", so named for obvious reasons. The sweeper arms were removed for it to become the N-1 refueller. The street cleaners wheels and side mirrors were also removed.

Finally the shell of the unit was repainted yellow and decorated with black and red stripes. Note: A couple of the units, like the final prop pictured at top, are missing a lower front piece of the outer shell.
